Why Most Military Shooting Experts Are Wrong About Survival Weapons
One of the problems with trying to teach people about survival skills is that they
believe what many people in the military tell them about certain skills and weapons. They
don't understand what works for these guys will not work for them. One of the biggest myths is that these
military guys know which guns you should have for protection and survival. The problem is you aren't a
military trained sniper at least most of you aren't. The guns you shoot and will shoot will be
determined by your skill level, your age, your strength, your access to ammo, and your mental and emotional
psyche. I love it when I hear these guys recommend a certain rifle or certain cartridge and
this is what you can hit with it, and you'll be able to kill up to 600 yards 700 yards etc.
But just think about that for a second or two. Most people are not going to hit anything at 600 yards! Most
people are not going to hit anything at 300 yards. Most people are not going to hit anything at 150 yards.
Have you watched some of the TV shows where they show the so-called gun experts from variety of disciplines
including the military and they try to hit various targets at various ranges with different types of
weapons? I've watched a few of them, and I noticed either the stress of the show or the fact that they don't
shoot that well in these situations and they are supposed to be the best shooters in the world!
This is like buying a Ferrari but you don't have the skill to go over 50 miles an hour in the car. Like the car
the guns are bought for their fantasies and to look at. These gun buying tips reminds me of my outdoor
expertise in fly fishing. Most neophytes think that a new fly rod or more expensive fly rod and
equipment will help them be a better fisherman. The same is true of guns. A gun that's able to shoot 600
to 800 yards accurately for an expert is no good in the hands of an amateur. An expert marksman with a 22
rifle will inflict more damage and better be able to survive than giving a neophyte a gun they have no
business using. The same is true of basic in-house protection guns. Perhaps the best gun in this situation is a
12gauge shotgun with a shorter barrel.
I have read many books and articles about which types of guns you should have for self protection and
they include everything but the kitchen sink including rocket launchers. You have to ask yourself if these
people are on drugs when they write such things. In a situation of stress and the moment will you be able to hit
the intruder? A shotgun with a combination of shot is a much better weapon to hit a target then perhaps a simple
handgun. In the historical analysis of the Earp Brothers and Doc Holiday at the OK Corral versus the outlaws the
conclusion of the experts was that an absolutely high number of shots were fired and they were in the size of an
area equal to a small room! And these guys were professional killers! The stress of the situation caused these guys
to miss over and over again!
In the coming months we will detail our analysis of which guns you should have in your possession and how to
rate your ability on how to buy these guns. The guns will do you no good if you are not able to use them accurately
and safely. In fact, in a hunting situation the best gun that you may need is a high-powered pellet rifle. And if
you can't figure out why that is necessary then you need our information more than you think.
