Analysis of Television Survival Shows
There are a number of TV survival shows on various networks including the Discovery
Channel and other channels of a similar nature. Men in these shows are
supposed to be the world's best survivalists. If you watch the shows carefully you will immediately notice
that these guys have a hard time and they have studied the area believe it or not! This is
especially true in colder climates which they don't go to very often. These guys are only trying to survive
for a day or two and they are having a rough episode. Now what makes you think with your limited knowledge and
your physical shape that you will be able to do this for a long time? The funny thing about it is that these
guys have backup right there in case something of an emergency arises. And they tell you this right in the
small print on the show.
These guys are in top-notch physical shape. Most of these guys have sniper training and were former
Navy SEALs or British style Commandos and yet with all that training they are always on the edge. This
should tell you just how really hard it would be to survive in the situation let alone with your family or children
if it comes to worst case scenario. I'm not trying to scare you. I'm trying to give you an adequate and rational
view of the potential situation that may occur.
I have fished and hunted for long time. I know how hard it really is to supposedly live off the land as it
is called especially in cold climates. The reason I continually mention
cold climates is that
it's much easier to live in a warmer climate and survive than it is in a cold climate and survive. Just take a look
at evolution and you'll find that out. You will expend so many calories to find enough food because your body is
constantly losing energy to the surroundings.
So when you see these TV shows realize what is going on. These people are some of the best in the world with
emergency backup and they are having a hard time doing it just for a few days. That's why I offer information
that will hopefully mentally prepare you and give you a realistic viewpoint of what you can and cannot do.
Sometimes the best thing to do is just keep warm, purify your water, and minimize your energy output until you can
get the food that you need or other help comes along!
